another great weekend

In continuing with how great the year has been, this weekend was another good weekend for me despite an allergy flare up today. Friday, I did another yoga class that left me sore the next day. I'm continuously amazed at how yoga can be challenging and a good workout.

Saturday I went out to visit friends who I haven't seen forever and apparently I was the boy to pursue. There were three separate guys who were heavily into me at the different bars I was at that night. Its nice to be pursued. :)

I had a date with the speed dater today. It was a good date. We seemed to get along well and had a great conversation. He was funny and liked to laugh. He even said he'd like to hang out again. So hopefully it will happen again. :)

I also discovered a fantastic new yogurt flavor: Lemon Burst!

back on schedule

The entire year so far, with all its difficulties for me, have made it hard for me to get on a good schedule... both with work, with exercise, and with school, much less a personal life. I finally feel over the last two weeks I've gotten on a good schedule with life. I've made it back to the gym on a regular schedule (and lost 6 lbs over the last week and a half--- but to be honest i had gained 15 this year so far). Work, I hope to have worked out very soon. Still doing the job search thing. I hope and have even started praying again that I can get a job offer really quickly. I have a little less than a month before I get demoted and moved to another location a million miles away.

Regardless of the crap that is happening, I'm staying optimistic, so please pray that I get a new job ASAP. I'd love to get back to having fun and happy postings on this blog.

post 5k

So Saturday was my 5k. It was a huge event and the Susan G. Komen race for the cure collected more than 2.5 million dollars. Thank you to all who participated or donated money to the cause.

As far as my running, I felt very pleased with myself. I was able to run the entire time without needing a break to catch my breath. Technically my time was something like 38 minutes, but I blame that on how long we had to walk before there was enough room to run. In truth, I should've been able to do it in under 30 minutes. I probably could've run more than the 3.1 miles as well.

I also noticed that I got angry with people who didn't seem to take the race seriously and did absolutely no training. If you walked in the first mile, you should've done the walking race. Simple as that :) No one would've judged you poorly for doing that and you still would've helped the cause.

Sunday I decided to break from the gym and my legs thank me. Next race is the Nelnet 5k race for education. Very exciting!

My first 5k

So, many of you know that I am becoming increasingly interested in physical fitness. One of my goals this year was to start becoming active in some sort of athletic venture , other than the gym. So this Saturday I will be participating in my first 5k. I'm not that great of a runner, so I don't expect an incredibly great score, but just by completing it, I will have done something good for myself.

On the other hand, it is also for a good cause. I am jogging in the Susan G. Komens Race for the Cure, an organization dedicated to fight breast cancer. This has affected my family and many families out there, so I encourage you to donate to their charity. You can do so by going to this donation page. Even if you do not donate, you should still go learn about breast cancer by taking the awareness quiz on the left hand side.

(side note: to keep this at the top of my blog until the event happens, I will save up my stories for next week.)
