two stories

I. Friday evening, I decide that I will have a quiet evening and go to the movies. I walk down to the Landmark E St. Cinemas. On the way there, mere steps from the door, there is a homeless guy asking for money (about the 5th or 6th on this walk alone). He shakes his cup at me and I respond "Sorry, I don't have any money on me," which is actually the truth thanks to the invention of the debit card. Then I continue on and he says "Well, you could take me home with you..." I just laughed and shook my head. Only me. Only I would get cruised by a homeless guy. Then I started to think about it... this actually is an improvement in my dating life that a homeless guy tried to pick me up.

II. Monday evening. In DC, Easter Monday is apparently a holiday in DC, so the building that my classes are in, the School Without Walls is all closed up. And of course, no one thought about this until 4pm so left and right classes were cancelled that take place there. So we take this as an opportunity to go drink beer. I didn't think many people would actually show up, but at least a third of the class did so. Great time by all and I was the nice guy doc student who bought everyone's drinks (ok, in truth I was trying to buy friendships, but that goes way too deep in my psyche to address here and now). Some of the highlights were Navy Rich getting groped by Michael Moore. Learning a lot about Ross, who I think is genuinely a really great guy and I was very honest about being intimidated by him at the beginning. And Jodi surprised me as well. Last week I got all nervous because her type of Josselson's theory came across as something like "hates groupwork" and I was like "great, my partner hates groupwork." But we became very close as a group. The main disappointment was Archie and Navy Rich leaving before the bar closed, but we were just fine without them. For those that were there, did I miss anything I should've put in here? If so, leave me a comment with a story that will make me turn bright red.
